Soft-top Corvette sales goal is 2,000 in Europe Detroit Free Press, The , March, 2004 by Mark Phelan Content provided in partnership with Chevrolet will unveil the all-new 2005 Corvette convertible at the Swiss auto show today, with expectations that the sixth-generation version of the brand's iconic sports car will reach European sales of 1,800 to 2,000 units a year. The Corvette's European distributor "is begging to get more" to meet strong expected demand, said Corvette chief engineer Dave Hill. The Corvette convertible goes on sale in the United States in October, about four months after the coupe. The convertible shares its dimensions and styling with the coupe, although the rear deck is reworked to complement its soft top, which stows away under an attractively sculpted cover. The convertible is exceptionally aerodynamic, with a drag coefficient of just 0.31. Open-topped cars usually have considerably more drag because a roof helps direct air around a car.
